Decluttering your Love Part 2….The Junk Drawer

Everyone seems to have one.  No one knows for sure exactly what’s in there or why but there it is, it’s a mess and full, to the brim.

How many times have you said  this?  “… I don’t have any idea where it is!  Look in the junk drawer!”

Too many little gadgets, tools, screws, rubber bands, loose paperclips,  mean sharp thumbtacks, pens, pencils, battery (probably dead), hammers, screwdrivers, pliers, scissors, crayons; it is endless and so the futile search ends.  The task of going through the entire thing to find a button that might be the right size for his shirt…isn’t worth it!

Holy cow!  Here’s an idea!  What if only a few items, around 10 or so, were in this drawer?  Each one should be important and have multiple uses. Maybe:

  •  A magnifying glass for paying attention to the smallest of things
  • Earphones for listening
  • Note cards for:
  •         Thanking
  •         Praising
  •         Encouraging
  • Bandages for Comforting
  • A pair of reading glasses for Assisting in reading the fine print
  • Some recipes for Sharing
  • A few dollars for Contributing
  • Earplugs for Protecting the ears from loud noises.

I think my family will be pleased when they see how the drawer looks now.

Next, I’ll get to work on my internal junk drawer….lots of stuff in there that needs to go.  Might just replace it all with 10 items that are important and have multiple uses……..I think my family and everyone I encounter will be pleased!

Decluttering your Love?  How’s it going?
